“These classes are amazing! I got to feel what the horse feels!”

Frequently, HHABC offers foundational education courses on many topics for students to learn fundamental basics with or without horse partners. Developing advanced skills early in the riding experience helps both the horse and human. It is a goal of the classes to help students transition more quickly from ‘mechanical skills’ with the aids to a natural early approach.  Additionally, Practice! Practice! Practice!  It is always necessary for proper neuromuscular development. Many students take several classes frequently to practice and help their muscles learn more rapidly.

“The Hands” series of classes are fun, inspiring and easy.  “The Hands” beginner class is without the horse. The students learn in pairs and experience what a horse feels with the bit in the hands of a beginner. Skills and knowledge are practiced until each student has role-played horse and rider.

“The best thing I learned was what softness really feels like!” Students enjoy hands-on experiences (no pun intended) with the tools (bits and reins) so they can really feel the horses’ experience. Riders get softer and more awareness is brought to the skill which creates a richer sensory experience.

  • This class is awesome. After this class I finally was able to understand what means to feel a horse movement through the rein in hands. This is a great feeling, probably, it is sounds silly for experienced rider, but for me it was equivalent to invention of Einstein’s theory of relativity. Sometimes it is not easy for me to be in tact with a horse, but whenever I can catch that movement with my hand and reins, I can feel the whole horse. And this part is also very interesting to discover for myself – small detail, like hands, can change so much. Thanks a lot for this class!

  • I have been taking lessons with my daughter who is 10 yrs old since September 2009. I had virtually no experience and it was my daughter who wants to be surrounded around horses consistently. I was up for the challenge of joining her.
One of my favorite classes has “The Hands” class. It truly gave me a sense of what a horse senses when a rider is not in tune with the horse’s motion and ends up tugging (even lightly) on the reins in an unaware, useless way.
All of the lessons and “The Hands” lessons have boosted myself to another level of being. At any age a person can gain more awareness and self confidence.
Thank you Robyn for all that you have given my daughter and I.
Thank you wonderful horses for being forgiving of my mistakes.
